About me

Hello! Let me introduce myself. My name is Melanie May, and I’ve been writing for, and about, businesses of all shapes and sizes for more than a decade.

There are a number of good reasons why you should use me. Not only am I fast, friendly, flexible and affordable but with a marketing and journalism background, I know how to write compelling copy, and how to pitch it precisely at the audience you’re targeting.

Based in the heart of the West Country, I am currently news editor for UK Fundraising, which serves the charity sector, providing news and resources for fundraisers, and writer and content editor at Turner PR – communication specialists in the voluntary sector.  As a copywriter, I also work for a wide range of clients from PR companies to blue-chip organisations and local businesses, across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, charity, education, technology, real estate, and marketing services. I specialise in writing copy for the web, and also write everything from reports and white papers, to advertorials, and promotional copy.

Clients past and present include: The Online Book Company, Turner PR, European Fundraising Association, Massive, Arc Data, Google, The Children’s Food Trust, Dorling Kinderlsey, Royal Mail, NHS, Rapidata, Proportion Marketing, Lindsell Marketing, Pitney Bowes, Blackbaud, and Return Path.

In my free time (and depending on the season), you can usually find me up a hill looking for wildflowers and butterflies, or in a wood searching for fungi. I volunteer as a livestock looker for Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, keeping an eye on cattle and sheep at a local reserve, and I’m also membership secretary for the Wiltshire branch of Butterfly Conservation.  I love where I live, and feel very lucky to be based on the edge of Salisbury Plain. I also love cake. And gin. Not usually together, but sometimes…
